You Say Apéro I Say Aperol

As we roll into the last two weeks of August, and vacationers return filling Geneva’s deserted summer streets with people once again, there is no better way to draw out the last days of summer than with that quintessential of patio drinks – the Aperol Spritz.

The Aperol Spritz has taken over patios and apéros (that hour when friends share a pre-meal apéritif) everywhere in the past decade.  Wildly popular in north eastern Italy, it’s meant to be appreciated outside, facing the street, watching the world go by.  It’s impossible to walk down table-lined sidewalks in Geneva and not see that bright gleam of orange in a few glasses. Of course it’s a dead simple cocktail and one to be enjoyed anytime, anywhere with friends.
